Position Summary
The Food Service Assistant supports the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth daily operations and exceptional guest experiences. The role involves preparing food, assisting with service, maintaining cleanliness, and upholding high food safety and hygiene standards.
This position suits someone reliable, energetic, and eager to learn traditional Ethiopian and African cuisine while working in a supportive, family-friendly environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation and serving of Ethiopian and African dishes
Support the kitchen in food prep, portioning, plating, and packaging orders
Maintain cleanliness of food prep areas, equipment, and dining spaces
Follow all food safety and workplace hygiene procedures
Provide friendly customer service and help with dine-in or takeaway orders as required
Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and team during service periods
Report any equipment faults, hazards, or incidents promptly
Required Skills & Experience
Prior experience in food service or hospitality (preferred)
Essential: Experience preparing or handling Ethiopian and/or African cuisine
Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety standards
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Physically capable of standing for extended periods during shifts
Desirable Skills
Food Safety Level 1 or 2 certification
Customer service experience
Willingness to learn new dishes and cultural food traditions
Work Environment & Conditions
